March 30, 2012:

York Regional Police is conducting training exercises at the Glenway Country Club building. This is expected to occur intermittently through April 2012 and should not pose any disruption or hazard to neighbouring residences.

Please contact YRP with any questions or concerns regarding this activity (non-emergency - 1-866-876-5423).

We also encourage you to call the police if you notice any unlawful or disruptive behaviour within your community - including the Glenway lands.

December 16, 2011:

The owners of the Glenway Golf and Country Club have recently met with the Town of Newmarket regarding the planning applications that will be filed to permit the proposed redevelopment. This was considered the official 'preconsultation meeting' where the Town and various agencies requested studies and reports that will be required in support of the applications.

Some of these studies - specifically the Hydrogeological Report and the Geotechnical Report - require fieldwork to be completed. This fieldwork has recently started, which has raised the interest of a number of residents. This activity is not construction or demolition, but merely investigation required in order to complete these studies.

This work will take place on private property, which is owned by Glenway Estates Newmarket (Marianneville Developments Limited). Any disruption to the work that is being completed - including vandalism to the contractor's equipment - will be reported to the police and charges will be pressed.

We appreciate your consideration for this work that is being done and look forward to continued dialogue with the Glenway community.

August 25, 2011:

On August 8th, Councillor Emanuel raised a number of questions and issues regarding the development concept plan that he requested the developer provide responses to. We have provided responses to these concerns, which are listed on the News & Updates page.

Andrin/Kerbel Group, Lakeview Homes, and the Brown Group of Companies have extensive experience in infill development and understand the value of Community Involvement in the planning process. We take seriously our responsibility to consider input from the community throughout the development process from the initial concept, through the approvals process, into the construction phase and finally during the on-going operations of the development.

Together with our Project Team and particularly Groundswell Urban Planners, we have developed a Community Involvement Plan with the following objectives:

• To provide comprehensive information to the Community during the design, approval, construction and operational phases.
• To be proactive by soliciting feedback and comments from the Community so comments can inform the development concept.

The ultimate goal of the developers is to revitalize the Glenway Country Club Neighbourhood with:

• Integrated and enjoyable pedestrian experiences
• Connections to the existing neighbourhood
• Public spaces that will draw people into the neighbourhood
• Street pattern focused on local circulating traffic, not major commuting traffic
• Enhance pedestrian and cyclist safety
• An engaging living environment
• Opportunities for green space and habitat
• High quality architectural and urban design

The initial concept as presented at the June 18, 2011 Public Information Session represents the efforts of the Development Team through the Conceptual Design Stage. The Andrin/Kerbel Group together with Lakeview Homes welcomes comments from the existing Glenway Community as the development concept is considered. This website is a community resource for residents and stakeholders to obtain information, hear about next steps, and share their feedback.

Groundswell Urban Planners are managing all of the Community consultation. Staff at Groundswell are aware of the unique attributes of the Glenway Community and look forward to receiving input from the residents. Please use the ‘Contact’ tab to contact them with your questions and comments.

The concept plan was shown at the public open house on June 18th - to view the plan and information that was presented, CLICK HERE.
